My precious daughter Celina was born on the 28. December 2001, 2 weeks early, by
C-section, under miraculous circumstances, a healthy and happy baby. She grew up as any
other child in the first 2 1/2 years. A tragic non fatal drowning accident happened on the 27.
July 2004 which changed our lifes from one second to the other. From a healthy little girl to
leaving her quadriplegic needing someone to do everything for her. A long fight began. This
included getting her off medication and getting her eating again. Praying and believing to see
her walking and talking again was my main focus. Many hospital stays followed and even
more so many sleepless nights trying to help her with discomforts and pains. Our biggest
issue was the digestive system, finding foods that didn't cause discomfort and pain finally to
find out in the end that she was allergic to eggs. Changes of doctors and therapists were
hard too at times. Then in 2010 we discovered that both her hips were dislocated. The
surgery in 2012 could not correct this anymore. There was quite a couple of times we fought
for her life but also have seen miracles like a medically not explainable healed lung that went
from the lower lobe not functioning anymore to working perfectly again. Jesus has been the
main part of my journey and still is. After 2013 the hospital visits got a lot less as I learned to
do a lot of things myself at home. In 2017 I discovered pure essential oils and with the help
of these got Celina off the Valium she was 5 years on already. Finally being completely
medication free and seizure free. I could never really give her epilepsy meds due to her
reactions to it. If there were hospital stays it was almost always because of impacted bowels
which is still at times a struggle but also be dealt with now at home. I have learned to insert a
nasal gastric feeding tube, can do a catheter myself and the nebulizers with the pure
essential oils have many times kept her out of hospital. I have always tried to make her a
part of everything in our lifes, like shopping, church, celebrations, even going in the
mountains, to the beach just everything possible. She attended the ECD center at the
Chaeli Campaign for 5 years and has been a part of the craft workshop at the same and at
Lucy G. We have been present at the outings of CMWSA from the beginning and very much
enjoyed the events. Life has thrown us with many challenges like loosing our homes over
and over again still not having a home to stay. Divorce and finances have made it a hard
road with having barely any furniture etc we own. But God carried us through each of those
struggles. And still I have and still today see progress and new developments in Celina like
more sounds, smiles and appropriate laughter. She even started her own way of
communication. We are super happy over finally soon receiving her new wheelchair after 10
years being in her old one and 3 years of fighting for the funds for it. We have probably
walked 100s of km in these years especiall the kast 5-6 without transport. The extras that
have to be covered like nappies, feeding tube, and so much more are a monthly struggle
especially as a single mom and having lost Celina's maintenance last month too. My
encouragement to other parents is and always was never give up and don't always believe
and go with what doctors say challenge them. Hang in to those that stick either you, help
and are therefor you and let go of those that are hindering you from going forward.I am
super thankful for everyone that has helped financially, with their time, services, groceries,
transport and love in the last 20 tough but also rewarding years (it is priceless to see Celina's
joyful face when I stand her up in her standing braces, to see how she loves it). We couldn't
have done it on our own and definitely not without our Lord.
